This Year's Model Updates:

The only noticeable changes are the elimination of chrome trim from the door handles and bumpers and the addition of a mini spare as standard equipment. Heated side mirrors are now optional and side windows receive the added safety of laminated glass. LX models lose standard features like a power passenger seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel and auto-dimming rearview mirror -- but they can be readded by ordering the LX Premier Group.

Pros:
  • Rear-wheel-drive performance, room for six, comfortable ride, excellent crash test results.
Cons:
  • Large size makes it difficult to park and maneuver, dated interior styling.

  • WOWZER, never thought I would, but I did - 2004 Ford Crown Victoria

After being in an accident in a 01 Accord that left me with injuries I happened to ask the adjuster his opinion of the safest car to be in ... and he didnt hesitate a second. "Crown Victoria", he said with a smile. Guess what Im driving now? Yep, you guessed it. And Ill tell you the truth, Im loving every second of it.

As a sales representative in Metro Detroit for over 20 years, the Crown Victoria has been perfect. Roomy, reliable, attractive with LX chrome, wheels and whitewalls. The Crown Victoria has never made too much of a "statement" to customers. This is fine product of the Ford Motor Company exudes the reliable American car driving experience. I hope Mr. Mulally and his team keep full-size rear wheel drive sedan products in the Ford lineup forever.

  • Panthers rule! - 2004 Ford Crown Victoria

The current-generation Crown Victoria is perhaps a bit dated-looking, but its still sharp and still looks way better than "cutting edge" designs like the Chrysler 300. Trunk room and ride comfort are everything youd expect from a traditional big car (again, better in every way than the 300), and it couples that with reasonably good fuel economy and performance. The 4.6 pulls a lot harder than I thought it would, and even with a full load of people and cargo, its never short of passing power (something the old 5.0L cannot claim!).

  • Goodbye Honda! - 2004 Ford Crown Victoria

Traded a Honda Accord which had problem after problem for the Crown Victoria after having rented one on a business trip. I will say I did hear a few comments from the family after doing so. But I now have a reliable and very safe car. Truly the most overlooked vehicle on the road.

  • Simply said, the best car Ive ever owned! - 2004 Ford Crown Victoria

I cannot say enough about the Crown Victoria. I bought my 2004 two years ago with 148k on the clock. Since then, the only non-maintenance items Ive had to replace was driveshaft u-joints, and a cooling fan. Today, the car sits at 181,500 miles. This thing can take a serious beating and not even care! Its super comfortable. The ultimate highway car! Crazy amounts of torque! Most passing maneuvers dont even require a down shift. Parts are really really cheap and easy to find. Largest trunk in the universe! Whats not to like? Well the gas mileage is meh, but you should expect that coming into it. Long live the Crown Victoria, its Panther siblings, and the Modular V8!

Mine is a base 04, with every option. Very comfortable, very economical, very reliable, and very safe. Sharp looking car, too!

  • The only one for me - 2004 Ford Crown Victoria

I find the looks of the LX Sport to be perfect. Not too much chrome, and perfect trim with the icing being the wheels. Strong look. Strong ride with amazing comfort. I dont always like where Im going, but I love driving this car there. I dont want any other car.

  • Consider the CV - 2004 Ford Crown Victoria

I was trying to find a clean used Marauder, but no luck, so I found the CV LX Sport. It is a great vehicle. Solid, quiet, large cabin, great controls with the Sport package. Nice ride quality and decent mileage for a V8. Huge trunk. Absolutely no problems to date. The 4.6 SOHC is OK, but Ford should consider putting an optional 5.4 SOHC performance motor in it, but I think that they are phasing out the "Panther Platform" pretty soon. A great value in a full sized car.

  • Police Interceptor - 2004 Ford Crown Victoria

This car is great value for the money, especially used; thats if you find the perfect one. Now, this being a police version, it does ride a lot firmer than the standard car, but since the seats are so comfortable, it almost doesnt matter. Being a police spec car also means that it gets all the powertrain improvements over even the LX Sport. I was even lucky enough to get one with matching seats. The wheels on the car do rust quite easily; my car has 159000 miles and there is quite a bit of rust on each rim. The power delivery is very broad in this car, but I found that it loses power when getting close to the redline. It corners pretty flat, but its easy to upset, especially in the rain.
